You will have seen this video by now — of the tsunami wave sweeping across flat farmland in northeastern Japan. A second review shows that, along the leading edge of the wave, one can see ships, floating fires, and homes pushed off of their foundations, vehicles defenseless, waiting to be engulfed. A black soot seems to simultaneously coat and float above the front of the deluge; one can see the raging waters whorl into canals, paddies, any depression pockmarking the land. It is at once wondrous and heartbreaking in its sheer devastation.
This is crazy.
My thoughts and prayers are going out to every person affected by this massive earthquake and tsunami. Insane.
